A severe flood stroked South Solok Regency, West Sumatera on Monday, November 25, 2019. The flood destroyed several areas in the region. VDMI grantees from Padang held fundraising activity at Padang State University (UNP) on Thursday, November 28, 2019. Grantees from Makasar, Manado, and Semarang also participated in this fundraising activity. The total of the donation was Rp. 1.201.200. The donation was distributed to the recipients in Koto Parik Gadang Diateh on December 7, 2019. There were three villages stroked by the flood which are Sapan Salak, Sapan Muaro, and Sapan Manggis. Access to the location is possible though there were heavy materials covering the street. The flood might reoccur since the area continuously having a heavy raining. In the day, the victim returned to their house to collect their goods as well as clean their house. Meanwhile, at night, they returned to an evacuation camp.
The activity was fully supported by the Person in Charge (PIC) of UNP, Mrs. Lediyana and Mr. Boy Arif Wilson. They provided a bus for VDMI grantees to go to the location affected by the flood. RR Padang commits to contribute to their society with their knowledge, energy, and expenses when it is feasible.
