Reported by May Nelsa Putri Ritonga, VDMS grantee from North Sumatera University (USU), Medan

The teaching activity in Mamiyai Orphanage has entered the third month. This activity had run on the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd of April 2017, every Saturday at 3 pm. Last month, we planned to add other subject besides mathematics and English, but we could not do that because the other Almuni and Grantees did not come to join.

During April, there were alumni and grantees who have taught. They were Dessy Monica for teaching Mathematics and English, and May Nelsa Putri Ritonga who taught English. The children were enthusiastic during the lesson. They were also not hesitate to practice speaking and mentioning some vocabulary items in English although their pronunciation was still not correct. What’s more, they were diligent to do their homework that we gave.

For the next month, we do hope the other VDMS Alumni and Grantees will participate in this teaching program.
