On March 15, 2026, YVDMI at Tanjungpura University (UNTAN) held an online meeting via Google Meet, divided into two sessions (a general session and an internal session). This event served as a platform for sharing knowledge about writing and a forum for discussing activities throughout 2026 with UNTAN alumni and grantees. The general session focused on discussing essay-writing techniques in English, which can be used as one of the components when applying for scholarships. The material was presented by Saskia and Mita (UNTAN grantees) and included: how to structure arguments, build a strong narrative flow, and present personal experiences in a reflective and convincing manner.
Participants were active during the Q&A session, asking questions ranging from finding a personal perspective to adapting writing styles to the requirements of scholarship applications. Additionally, some participants struggled with getting started on their writing. All questions were addressed during the general session, and it is hoped that the session provided insights into writing essays according to specific needs.
Next, the internal session discussed the monthly activity plans to be carried out throughout the year. Some of the planned activities include: promoting the Excellent Writing Club, a Silent Reading Party, Car Free Day activities, a public speaking workshop, sign language training, writing workshops, and book review sessions. Through this meeting, YVDMI UNTAN hopes not only to share practical knowledge but also to strengthen a sense of community and support the personal development of alumni and grantees.
