Regional Representative (RR) Kupang organizes regular teaching activities at the Oesapa Reading Shelter with the aim of improving children’s reading, writing, math, and drawing skills, as well as strengthening ties with the VDMI Family. Held in March 2026, these weekly sessions are designed for children ranging from preschool through junior high school. The sessions run from 2:00 PM until completion and are led by RR Kupang alumni and grantees.

Each session begins with a group prayer and an icebreaker to create a fun learning environment. Core activities include reading together, introducing letters and numbers to preschoolers, practicing writing and simple arithmetic, and sharing inspirational stories. In addition, creative activities such as drawing, coloring, and educational games are also organized to keep the participants engaged. Throughout the program, there was a noticeable increase in the children’s interest and confidence in reading and interacting. They became more active in asking questions, answering, and were brave enough to present in front of their peers.

Overall, the teaching activities at the Oesapa Reading Shelter ran smoothly and had a positive impact on the development of the children’s learning abilities. We hope this program can continue and grow so that it fosters a love of reading and a passion for learning among the local children.
