The donation from VDMI family to Mangrove Oesapa open library was distributed on Sunday, February 23, 2020. Serlinia Rambu Anawoli, the coordinator of RR Kupang simbolicly donated to Elsita, the coordinator of the library. The total donation is 8.833.300 rupiahs which then utilized to buy several types of books such as ensiclopedia, kids’ story, dictionary, etc. There are also some props such as sampoas, posters, and puzzles. The activity was attended by 8 VDMI family members, 4 parents of the library members, as well as 20 children that use to utilize the library. Besides, VDMI family members also documented the new facilities as well as teaching the children on how to use and maintain the facilities. The children were very happy and thank to VDMI family for their donation.
The following week, Sunday, March 1st, 2020, children who live close to Mangrove Oesapa library learned using the new facilities. Facilitated by VDMI Grantees, Elsita and Yuni, the learning activity was held from 15:00 to 16:30. Fifteen children joined this activity. The learning activity was started by teaching the children how to wash their hands properly. Then, children were divided into several groups. The children learn utilizing the puzzles, sempoa, etc. At the end of the activity, one of the children, Enjel was selected to be the leader who responsible to remind the other children to come to the library. The children commit to come to the library and learn together every Monday at 3 PM.
