Universitas Nusa Cendana (UNDANA) held a socialization session for the Van Deventer Maas Indonesia (VDMI) scholarship in a spirited event attended by approximately 100 students from various study programs on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Siprianus S. Garak, who expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the students in pursuing better educational opportunities. In his remarks, he emphasized the vital role of the VDMS scholarship in driving academic achievement and developing soft skills among Undana students.

The Head of the International Relations Office (IRO) at Undana, Ms. Chatarina Behar, also attended the session to provide support and insights into the importance of international scholarships like VDMI in broadening students’ global perspectives. She highlighted the strong synergy between Undana and VDMI in creating inclusive educational opportunities for high-achieving students, especially those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The core material of the socialization was presented by the Person in Charge (PIC) of VDMI at Undana, Dr. Maria Lobo, who thoroughly explained the requirements, application procedures, and benefits that recipients could gain from the scholarship. The information was delivered clearly and engagingly, complemented by an interactive Q&A session. Additionally, one of the VDMI grantees, Yolanta Kono, who is also a student at Undana, shared an inspiring story about her experiences as a scholarship recipient. She explained how VDMS not only supported her financial needs but also provided personal development training and valuable international networking opportunities.

This socialization session aimed to encourage more Undana students to apply for the VDMI scholarship and take advantage of this opportunity to achieve their full potential. The high level of enthusiasm among participants demonstrated that the spirit to grow and achieve great dreams remains strong among Undana students. This event also reflected Undana’s commitment to supporting its students in competing at both national and international levels.
