PIC and Grantees of Wira Wacana Christian University (UNWINA), Sumba conducted activities at Taman Baca Gracia. The purpose of this activity is as a form of VDMI’s concern for the surroundings, having an impact and becoming an agent of change in the education sector. The first meeting was on October 15 2022 and was attended by 16 children (from elementary to high school). Activities discussing school assignments, writing and reading. One of the assistants at Taman Baca Gracia (Ibu Ani) said that she was very happy to see students sharing together.

The second meeting (October 29 2022) received a good response, there was an increase in the number of 32 children. Starting with games to give encouragement. Learning activities are divided into several groups. Elementary School: writing and English, Junior High School: discussing mathematical multiplication. The next meeting (5 November 2022) was a soft skill training activity by making miniature cups from origami paper. Participants are very happy and excited.

November 19, 2022, despite the lack of teaching materials, the participants in Taman Baca Gracia were enthusiastic about learning mathematics using modules from the school. During the activity, the problem is growing the confidence of the participants in expressing opinions. Apart from that, the challenge for VDMI Sumba Grantees is in creating teaching materials to be liked, especially mathematics. Several grantees also tried to be more creative in delivering materials and games. Hopefully this continues and there will be a positive impact in the future.
