Sunday, December 21, 2025, VDMI Regional Representative (RR) Banjarmasin gathered not only for a reunion or internal activities, but to make a real contribution to environmental conservation. The activity at Bukit Batu (Sungai Luar Hamlet, Tiwingan Baru Village, Aranio Sub-district, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan) bore witness to the enthusiasm of RR Banjarmasin alumni and grantees in greening the earth of Kalimantan.
This activity is a tangible manifestation of the collaboration between RR Banjarmasin and Borneo Urban Lab, a community founded by VDMI alumni who are deeply concerned about urban environmental issues. With full support from PLN Peduli (PLN Kalselteng) as the main sponsor, and active participation from various environmental communities such as Duta Pepelingasih Kota Banjarbaru, Green Generation South Kalimantan, and other social communities, this activity became an extraordinary collective movement.
The main objective of this activity is to plant trees in the Bukit Batu area, a region with great potential to become a green space that benefits the surrounding community. In addition, this activity also aims to support Meratus Geopark, an area with high geological, biological, and cultural value. By planting trees, it is hoped that nature can be preserved, the impact of climate change can be reduced, and the quality of the urban environment can be improved.

The participants were enthusiastic and excited in carrying out each stage of the activity, from preparing the land, digging holes, to planting tree seedlings. Not only that, this activity also became a forum for exchanging information and experiences on environmental issues faced by South Kalimantan. The tree planting activity in Bukit Batu is clear evidence that the spirit of collaboration and concern for the environment can have a positive impact on the community and nature. Hopefully, this activity can be the first step towards realizing Bukit Batu as a sustainable green area and thank you for VDMI Family Banjarmasin.
