“You are valuable, if you think you are” is simple to say but we need time to change our mindset.

Ambon. 19 May 2013. The first event of RR Ambon to gather and learn together in a motivational seminar was held in Medical Faculty Room, Universitas Kristen Indonesia Maluku. This event was really in line with the motto of  VDMS, “LEARN, SHARE, ENCOURAGE” which was the main purpose of this event.

Attended by ten alumni and eight students, the seminar was conducted interactively. The participants were very enthusiastic, asked questions and shared their weaknesses and failures from the past. They (paid much attention to) participated actively in the seminar and discussion.

Rissendo B. Maulany, S.E, the speaker, was simple and practical. The participants could understand his every single word. The speaker did not only answer their questions but also gave advice and suggested solutions based on their situation. They also shared an email and Facebook account with the speaker so they can keep contact. He promised to follow up our progress and we could ask him to get for more advice.

The end of the seminar, the chairperson introduced MAS to the participants. They collected their active emails and phone numbers so that we can help them register to MAS. By doing this, RR Ambon tries to establish a good communication between Alumni of VDMS in Ambon and other cities.

In accordance with the purpose of this event, it is expected that after this seminar the participants can better realize their potential by changing their mindset. It is important for people to be able to change their paradigm to enter a successful journey.

The RR board had invited thirty alumni and students, but only eighteen attended. Some alumni are now studying outside Ambon for their Master’s degree, and others are in their hometown. It is quite difficult for alumni outside Ambon to join due the distance and limited transportation.

Based on the questionnaire, the participants were glad to be in this meeting. They can’t wait for the next event to be held. Next, RR Ambon will organize a social activity in Osi Village, East Cream Island: Mangrove Tree Planting, Singing Practice for children, and the others.
