Reported by May Nelsa Putri Ritonga, VDMS Grantee from North Sumatera University (USU), Medan
On 2nd September and 9th September, beside learned English subject, we also give the knowledge about hydroponics plants to Mamiyai’s children. This session was led by Rizka Amelia, VDMS Alumni from USU and Muhammad Arif who a student at University of North Sumatera. We explained to us about what plants of hydroponic is and how to make it. Hydroponic plants do not need soil as its growth media, but water basic need. Arif told “that plants planted use water more hygienic than planted use soil”.
On 23rd September, after learned as usual, we tried applied to make our own hydroponics plants. The material we used were plastic bottles, flannel cloth, seed, knife and scissor. We led them during process making hydroponics plants. The children were very happy and enjoyed this activity. They followed our instructions seriously. They also hoped their plants will grow well.
Hopefully, we as alumni and grantees Medan will always give the other important knowledge which valuable for Mamiyai’s Orphanage children and also for ourselves. Stay to Learn, Share, and Encourage.
